Running

The turning point in Berlin

06.08.2019 - Natalie
More than 21 months passed before Jonas was able to run a best time again after his marathon personal best at the Frankfurt Marathon 2017. Together with some other Roadrunners Südbaden, he started at the Berlin City Night, showed courage and was rewarded in the end with a new best time of 33:18 minutes. It is great that our team with Jonas, Jonas Lehmann, who ran 33:13 minutes in Berlin, and Bachir Benouaret, whose best time is 33:12 minutes, now has three runners who have already completed the ten kilometres in under 3:20 minutes/kilometre!

For Jonas, the race was a turning point. The year 2018 had some highs for him, but also many lows. In October 2017, we both didn't think that his next best time would be so far away. Therefore, we want to see it as a starting signal for further best times that will hopefully follow in the coming weeks and months.

Unlike Jonas, the weekend in Berlin was less successful for me. Instead of competing in the German Athletics Championships in the Olympic Stadium on Saturday evening, I was condemned to watch. I was 0.9 seconds short of qualifying, and a second last-minute attempt failed because foot pain came after 3.5 kilometres. Because of this, I supported all the team colleagues who had started at the City Night from the side of the course.
