One of the most beautiful bridges in Europe, the Forth Railway Bridge, can be found on the outskirts of Edinburgh. To the far northwest of the Scottish capital is the charismatic fishing village of South Queensferry. It lies on the south bank of the Firth of Forth and is connected to the village of North Queensferry on the opposite side by the Forth Road Bridge.
In addition to two bridges, which are used by cars and are also accessible to cyclists and pedestrians, there is the Forth Railway Bridge, which is usually just referred to as the Forth Bridge. The double-track railway bridge is part of the railway lines leading towards the Scottish Highlands.
In fine weather, the area around the Forth Bridge makes for a lovely day out. In South Queensferry you can find a café or two. You can also relax by the waterfront. The easiest way to get to South Queensferry is by bus, which takes about 30 minutes from Edinburgh city centre.
