A good nine months after the Great Manchester Run 2019, Natalie and I were back in Manchester at the weekend. This time we both run the 10-kilometre race.
Waiting for me at the Trafford 10K in Pattington, a suburb in the south of Manchester, was a race that is always outstandingly well contested. After several successful 5-kilometre starts since the beginning of the year, the first race over a longer distance was waiting for me this year and at the same time a first highlight, after all, it is not every day that you run in or on the outskirts of Manchester.
We were aware that the race would not take place in the city centre, but outside, but we were a little surprised that it would be a race that was not less rural than many village races in our home region of Baden. Nevertheless, we stepped on the gas in a strong wind on a route that surprisingly was partly on very bad asphalt. Natalie succeeded, but I was only partially successful. In the end Natalie finished after 36:21 minutes and I after 34:27 minutes.
.
Even though I would have liked to run a bit faster, it was nice to be back in Manchester. From our point of view, a city that is definitely worth a visit.
