Test: Craft Repel Jacket

10.03.2019 - Jonas
The Portuguese Mediterranean coast was once again our training camp destination in February. This year, the Craft Repel Jacket was with us in the Algarve. Of the numerous training kilometres, I completed so many with the jacket - on the one hand, because I wanted to use the chance to test the running jacket extensively, and on the other hand, because it was the best choice for me in many external conditions.

The wind was blowing so hard in Portugal that I was glad of the wind protection of the Craft Repel jacket, despite the otherwise pleasant temperatures. The sealed seams keep the wind away from the body. Nevertheless, thanks to the Ventair technology, some ventilation is promoted by the ventilation openings under the arms.

I quickly noticed the chest pocket, which is slightly hidden, as a positive feature. It offers storage space for small items such as keys or bars. I also have to praise the elasticity of the Craft Repel jacket. This is what makes it stand out compared to similar running jackets. Instead of restricting movement, the jacket adapts perfectly thanks to its 4-layer stretch technology. What is unthinkable with other jackets is no problem with the Craft Repel jacket. So it not only passed the mobility test during extensive stretching, but also during outdoor yoga. When the rain moved from the Atlantic towards the Mediterranean for the first time in Portugal, making our training session a wet affair as well, tension arose. How long would the Craft Repel jacket last, I asked myself. In light to medium rain, the jacket lasted almost the entire training session. It was only when the rain turned heavy towards the end and it had been exposed to the wet for longer that it became apparent that the Craft Repel jacket is not a classic rain jacket, but rather an all-rounder.

The jacket also scores points with its appealing, modern design. Its use does not have to be limited to long runs, intervals or other forms of training, but can also be used for outdoor sports in your free time.

At home, the impressions gathered in the Algarve were confirmed. Instead of the salty smell of the sea, the sound of the waves and the beautiful pine forests surrounding me during many training runs, I have since been surrounded by the local hills of the Black Forest again. However, this does not change my opinion of the Craft Repel Jacket: If you are looking for a running jacket that scores points in dry conditions, the Craft Repel Jacket is the right choice and you can use it for more than just running.
