“What a KinzigCross premiere!“, that's exactly what many people who took part in the first KinzigCross in Gengenbach-Schwaibach thought. Natalie, our team colleagues and I were also impressed. After 18 years of Summer-Stafette Schwaibach, which our team had nominated in the last years strengthened by skaters of the Speedteam Freiburg, cyclists of Team #Heimat and other friendly athletes, it was now time for something new.
With the KinzigCross, a 180-degree turnaround was made that was overwhelmingly well received and has even greater potential for the years to come. As we support the organisation of the KinzigCross ourselves, we were particularly curious to see what everything would be like. In order to test the KinzigCross experience myself, I went to the start again on Saturday, a few hours after the Offenburg hoch3 run, which had taken place on Friday evening. For five kilometres I had to overcome obstacle after obstacle and kilometre after kilometre. Despite my limited experience with obstacles, it went really well and we were delighted with my first Sloopy victory. Our team mates Jonas and Florian made the RS triple success perfect.
With the KinzigCross I added another one to my little winning streak. At the summer evening run in Steinach I had won in 34:41 minutes, nine days later at the Polderlauf Leimersheim in 34:30 minutes. Victory number three was to follow at the hoch3 run in Offenburg, where we were once again wearing the green jerseys of our partner StruxBio. After finishing fourth (2016), third (2017) and second (2018), I now achieved first place in the individual race. Meanwhile, Natalie won for the fourth time in a row. The team victory was made perfect by our team mate Daniel as the third fastest man out of around 1,400 starters. So it was a successful evening all round and the next day, as already mentioned, the KinzigCross premiere was to follow with victory number four.
